The Workshop Hosts

Niamh & Synne met at Oxford University on the Creative Writing master’s programme.

They studied prose, drama, poetry — but they agree it was not hours at the library that made the biggest impact on their writing.

It was the workshop.

There, they learned the discipline of putting their words out there, in front of others.

There, they found, for the first time in either of their lives, a community of writers.

Inspired by those Oxford days, Oxlo is a new space for writers to come together in Oslo and create.

Synne is a native Nord.

She started out as a screenwriter before she was seduced by prose.

She recently completed her first children’s book, inspired by fireside stories & Nordlys.

Niamh is an English expat.

She moved to Norway to butcher the language and to work on a feral little novel.

She works closely with writers developing projects in fiction and film. (Open to enquiries.)

When they are not running workshops, Niamh & Synne can often be found quibbling about books and films, and blissing out by the Akerselva.
